SPECIAL THANKS TO YEAR ONE, DICK MILLER, AND DICK MILLER RACING FOR SPONSORING THE OLDSMOBILE NATIONALS INVITATIONAL CLASS - This was one of the BEST times I have ever had! There were 8 Olds Nationals people that were invited and sponsored to come to Bristol. We were given nice hotel rooms, andmission, and plenty of gas/spending money for the trip. We were paired up, and could run test and tune all weekend. Ken and I raced my '86 Cutlass all 3 days (Fri thru Sunday). Saturday was the big main day with the F.A.S.T. (Factory Appearing Stock Tire) cars, and some class of fastest street car shootout racing. The F.A.S.T. cars looked completely stock under the hood, and had stock type tires, and were in the mid 11's! The finals on Saturday were capped off with fireworks. Our class finals were on Sunday. What a blast! It was great meeting all of you Olds guys there!

Since Ken's convertible is getting a new engine, he was able to use my car under his sponsorship. Ken and I had the only Olds Invitational class car there DRIVEN to the track and raced. Ken and I drove a little over 400 miles to the track, and got a solid 15 MPG a couple tanks. We made 11 passes during the weekend, then drove 400 miles home. Bristol's track is about 1000 feet higher elevation than Ohio's, and the air pressure was pretty low compared to good air at home (28.5" of Hg versus 30.0-30.3 for my best times in Ohio). My car DID run it's best ET ever though - 12.55 at 108! We dropped the exhaust pipes off at the track, which picked up the MPH just about 2.0 MPH! This proves the 2-1/2" Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers are restricive. ET's at home in good air with the exhaust dropped should be in the 12.3 range... but that's just bench racing! New exhasust is now high on the priority list! Special thanks to Dick Miller & Dick Miller Racing, and Year One restoration parts for such a great time!
